Websites for businesses based in Caen

Website creation in Caen for local businesses

For a tradesperson, a shop owner or an independent in Caen, a website costs €39 a month on the Essential plan, after €1 at the order, or €79 a month on the Visibility plan, after €1 at the order. In both cases I design and code a unique site for your business, with no template and no WordPress, then handle hosting, backups, security and your text changes within 48 working hours every month. Visibility adds four pages and four articles every month written for Google and AI search engines. I work across the whole Caen la mer conurbation, from Hérouville-Saint-Clair to Ouistreham, and the site is live less than 48 hours after the order, with code that belongs to you from the first day.

01

Why does a Caen business need its own website?

Because Caen's customers come from much further than the city itself, and a client from Bayeux, Falaise or the coast doesn't know your name before searching for it on Google. In its 2024 report on commerce in Caen, the CCI Caen Normandie describes a catchment area covering the whole of Calvados and spilling into the Manche and the Orne. Those clients type "couvreur Caen", "coiffeur Hérouville-Saint-Clair" or "restaurant Vaugueux" on their phone, look at the first three results and call the one whose site answers their questions. Without a site you only exist for the people who already know you.

A Facebook page doesn't replace a site, because Google almost never shows it for a service search in a specific district, and because it says nothing about the areas you cover or your lead times. A site you own describes your services, your communes and your hours in words Google understands, and it keeps working while you're on a roof in Mondeville or behind your counter on Rue Saint-Pierre. Many tradespeople in Calvados have postponed the project after an agency quote of several thousand euros. My affordable website offer is built for them, with everything that takes time already included.

The domain name is registered in your name and the code of the site belongs to you from the order, which sets this formula apart from a rental. A tradesperson who retires or sells the business passes the site on with it, and if you want to leave earlier, I hand over the full export within fifteen days, free, even during the twelve month commitment. After the first year you cancel in any month with one month's notice, with no finance company, and the first year total is shown at the top of every quote. My page on the website on a monthly subscription goes through these terms line by line.

02

Which districts of Caen and which communes of Caen la mer do I cover?

I work for businesses in every district of Caen, from the centre and the Vaugueux to the districts the city groups around its neighbourhood hubs, Saint-Jean, the Port, Saint-Ouen, Haie-Vigné, Hastings, Venoix and Beaulieu in the centre and south west, then Folie-Couvrechef, Calvaire-Saint-Pierre, Pierre-Heuzé, Chemin-Vert, Guérinière and Grâce-de-Dieu, across to the right bank. The communes of Caen la mer get the same work, and a Caen tradesperson's clients often live in Hérouville-Saint-Clair, Mondeville, Ifs, Colombelles, Fleury-sur-Orne, Bretteville-sur-Odon, Carpiquet, Cormelles-le-Royal, Giberville, Blainville-sur-Orne or Ouistreham. A well built site names those communes, because clients type them before they type your trade.

The centre of Caen lives on its cafés, hotels and restaurants, the CCI Caen Normandie counted 512 of them in the city in 2024, ahead of personal services, clothing shops and food retail, and Place Bouchard sees an average of 202,000 pedestrians a week according to the same report. Around that pedestrian centre, the 109,400 residents INSEE counted in 2023 and those of the neighbouring communes keep roofers, plumbers, electricians, masons and joiners busy, along with garages, health practices and beauty salons, and some of those owners are English speakers drawn by the coast and the ferry links. Each of these trades has its own searches, and a generic site doesn't catch them.

Take a roofer based in Venoix who works across the whole conurbation. His site has a home page that states his trade and his city, a page for roof renewal, a page for flashing and gutters, a page for repairs after a storm, and one page per commune he drives to often, say Hérouville-Saint-Clair, Mondeville, Ifs and Ouistreham. Every page shows his own jobs in before and after photos, his hours, a call button that stays visible on a phone, and the list of communes he covers written out in full. My page on the website for tradespeople details this structure, which answers "couvreur Ifs" without paid advertising.

For a shop in the centre the pages change. A café in the Vaugueux needs a menu that reads well on a phone, exact hours, photos of its terrace and directions from the castle. A boutique on Rue Saint-Pierre needs a page per product family, its brands, its hours and the free shuttle that stops at Place Saint-Sauveur, as the CCI points out. I design each site from these needs, never from a template, and if your business reaches towards the Seine estuary, my page for businesses in Le Havre describes the same offer.

How do you get found on Google in Caen?

You get found when a Caen resident's search, "plombier Caen rive droite", "boulangerie Venoix" or "garage Mondeville", meets a page on your site that says exactly that and a Google listing that confirms the address and hours. Google shows a map of three businesses first, then the websites, and it only places listings in that map when a site backs them up. A Calvados business with only a listing, or only a Facebook page, has no chance of getting in against a competitor whose site names the district and the service.

Your Google Business Profile gets the same care as the site, because it's what the client sees first. It needs the right category, an exact address or service area, current hours, real photos of your jobs or your shop, and a reply to every review, even a bad one. On the Visibility plan I update it every month, post your news there, your availability after a winter storm for instance, and link each service to its page. My article on local SEO for a small business details the most frequent mistakes on listings around the conurbation.

AI search engines, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews, read your pages and quote the ones that answer a precise question in a few sentences, which favours well written sites over big ones. On the Visibility plan I write four pages and four articles a month on phrases people in Calvados really type, chosen from volume data and never invented, with the technical markup those engines expect and links between your pages. At the end of the month you receive a report with your positions on your local phrases and what I'm correcting.

04

How does building your website in Caen work?

The starting point is an hour of conversation, by video or in person if you prefer, where you tell me about your trade, your clients, the communes you work in and what a visitor should do on arriving at the site, whether that's calling, asking for a quote or placing an order. I then look at what your Caen competitors do, pick out the phrases they target, and ask for your photos, any existing text and your reviews. You have nothing to write, I draft everything in French or English and you approve each page.

I design the site, code it entirely with no prebuilt page, and send you a complete first version you read through at your own pace, in the evening or at the weekend if the days are full. Your corrections go in, then the site passes a check on speed, accessibility and technical SEO before going live. Two clients never receive the same site, and a crêperie in the Vaugueux will have nothing in common with an electrician in Colombelles.

Count less than 48 hours between the order and going live, depending on how fast you review. Once the site is live, hosting, daily backups, monitoring and fixes run every month, and your requests for text or image changes are published within 48 working hours. You write to me from a job site, I publish, and you receive the report at the end of the month. The full detail of both plans is on my pricing page.

06 The price

Why this price does not lower the quality

The price comes from how the site is built and maintained, not from a sacrifice on the design or the code.

01

A site designed and coded, not a template

No purchased theme, no page builder. The layout, the copy and the code are written for your business, after research on what your competitors do and on what your customers type into Google. Two clients never receive the same site.

02

Performance and security are measured

Before going live, every site passes a check on speed, accessibility and technical SEO, and it does not ship until the score is where it should be. A fast, clean site costs less to host and maintain, and that saving is in the price.

03

Automation pays the difference

Hosting, backups, monitoring and the monthly report are automated, and I have spent sixteen years building this kind of tooling. Human time goes to the design, the copy and your change requests, not to the repetitive tasks others bill you for every month.

04

No financing, no hidden clause

You pay €1 or €1 at the order, then a monthly plan for twelve months, with no credit company and no lease contract. The first year total sits at the top of the quote, and the domain and the code stay yours, with an export of the site within 15 days on request.

07

Frequent questions about website creation in Caen

How much does website creation in Caen cost?

The price depends on the plan you choose. With Essential you pay €1 at the order and then €39 each month, or €469 excluding tax for the first year, and with Visibility you pay €1 at the order and then €79 each month, or €949 excluding tax for the first year. These amounts include the design of the site, hosting, backups and edits, and they appear at the top of the quote.

Can my site cover the communes of Caen la mer and the coast?

Yes, and for a tradesperson it's often necessary. I create one page per commune where you work regularly, Hérouville-Saint-Clair, Ifs, Mondeville or Ouistreham, with your services and your job photos on each. Google then matches your site to searches that name the commune, without you having to pay for advertising.

How long does website creation in Caen take?

Between the order and going live there are usually less than 48 hours, the time for me to design the site, for you to read the complete first version and for me to work in your corrections. A roofer or a boutique with five to eight pages fits in that window, and a quick review shortens things further.

Who owns the website and the domain name?

It's you, and I write it on every quote. The domain name is registered in your name, the code of the site belongs to you from the first day, and this isn't a rental. If you leave, even during the twelve month commitment, you receive the full export of the site within fifteen days, free, and you host it elsewhere if you wish.

What's the difference between Essential and Visibility for a Caen business?

Visibility costs €40 more a month than Essential, and that difference pays for visible work. Essential covers the unique site, hosting, backups, fixes and edits on request. Visibility adds four pages and four articles every month on verified local phrases, structured data and a positions report, which is what brings enquiries in from Google.

What happens to my subscription after the first twelve months?

Once the first twelve months have passed, you can stop in any month with one month's notice, with no fees and no finance company behind it. If you continue, hosting, backups, monitoring and edits carry on with the monthly report, and if you stop, the site and the domain name stay yours.

08 Compare before you sign
