Webflow alternative

Webflow alternative for a small business site

A Webflow alternative for a small business is either a simpler builder such as Wix or Squarespace, or a site coded for you and looked after every month by a developer. Webflow is a designer's tool, powerful and demanding, that most tradespeople and shop owners have no time to learn, so I offer the second route in two plans. Essential costs €1 at the order then €39 a month, with the site designed and coded for your business, hosting, daily backups and your changes delivered within 48 working hours. Visibility costs €1 at the order then €79 a month and adds pages and articles for Google and AI search every month. The code and the domain are yours from day one.

01

What does Webflow do well, and who is it built for?

Webflow gives a designer the control of a developer without writing the code by hand. Layout, animations, fonts, reusable styles, everything is set visually, and the result is clean HTML and CSS, which is what Webflow's own pricing page says about code export. It's the tool many agencies and freelance designers pick for startup and brand sites, because it allows things Wix or Squarespace don't. The Starter plan is free and lets you build and publish on a webflow.io address, which is enough to learn and test before you commit.

The Webflow pricing page, viewed on 27 August 2026, shows its prices in dollars, billed yearly. For a simple site with no content management, Basic costs $15 a month and comes with a custom domain, and Premium costs $25 a month for a site with a lot of content. Publishing on your own domain name is reserved for the paid plans, the page says so. Code export depends on the workspace rather than the site, with the Core workspace at $19 a month, again billed yearly. Its templates page announces 7000+ free and premium templates, built by Webflow's community of creators. My two plans display in your currency.

Webflow is for people who have a designer at hand, or who are one. A startup with someone on the team to run the site, an agency delivering to clients, a photo studio, a freelance designer who wants to show what they can do. For those profiles the learning pays off, and the tool holds demanding sites. For a plumber, a practice, a holiday rental or a restaurant that wants a site that works and someone to call when a text has to change, the learning curve costs more than the subscription, and it appears on no pricing page.

02

Where does Webflow become too heavy for a small business?

The site belongs to you more than with Wix or Squarespace, but not completely. The Webflow pricing page states that code export provides clean, semantic HTML and CSS files for your dev team, and that content managed in the content system (the CMS), meaning collection pages and items, can't be exported. Export is also listed under the Core workspace, not the free one. So you can leave with the skeleton of the site provided you have a developer to keep it alive elsewhere, and the product sheets or articles managed in the CMS have to be rebuilt. The domain must always be in your name, and my guide to domain names explains how.

The template doesn't save you the learning. The 7000+ templates announced on Webflow's page are built by its community of creators, and each one comes with its own logic of classes and styles that you have to understand before changing a heading without breaking the rest. A paid template is bought once, then the time is yours, and a popular template ends up on other sites than yours. A site coded for your business starts from your services and your customers, and no two of my clients get the same site. You never see the editor, you write to me and the change arrives.

A well built Webflow site is fast, and I won't claim otherwise. Speed depends mostly on the person who built it, on stacked animations, loaded fonts, uncompressed images and scripts added page after page. A community template rich in effects can weigh a lot on a phone, and you have to know where to cut. With a site coded for you, I decide every line that loads and I commit to the result, every site passes a check on speed, accessibility and technical SEO before going live, and I send you the report. The difference comes from having someone whose job it is answer for the result every month, whatever the tool.

Webflow's price reads on two lines, the site and the workspace. Basic at $15 a month over three years is $540 for hosting alone, to which you add the paid template if any and the Core workspace if you want to export, plus your hours of learning and updating. My Essential plan costs €1,405 over three years, and that amount covers design, code, hosting, backups, updates and your changes delivered within 48 working hours. Hosting against hosting, Webflow costs less, and the honest comparison is the complete site with the work included. To place those amounts, how much a website costs details prices by method.

03

Which Webflow alternatives should a small business compare?

Wix is the simplest alternative if you want to stay inside a builder. Its US pricing page, viewed on 27 August 2026, shows Light at $19 a month, Core at $29, Business at $39 and Business Elite at $159 billed yearly, and the French page didn't display its prices that day. The editor is much easier to pick up than Webflow and much less free in what it lets you build. Its help center states that the site has to be hosted and operated on Wix's servers to work, so there's no export. My Wix alternatives page takes up the same questions with the same table.

Squarespace is the builder in the middle, more guided than Webflow, more polished than Wix in its templates, in my view. Its French pricing page, viewed on 27 August 2026, shows Basic at 14 € a month on monthly billing or 108 € a year, Core at 20 € a month or 168 € a year, Advanced at 30 € a month or 252 € a year, with a 14 day trial and no card. Its help page on exporting says the file returns pages and one blog, but not style settings or custom CSS. For a brochure site you feed yourself, it's often the most restful choice, and my Squarespace alternatives page goes into the detail.

The third option is the result a good Webflow designer would get, without you having to become that designer. I design your pages from your services and your customers, I code them without a builder or a shared template, I host them, I back them up daily, I watch security and I deliver your text and image changes within 48 working hours, with a monthly report on traffic and uptime. The code belongs to you from day one, with no workspace to pay for to export it, and the domain is registered in your name. My website subscription page details how it works, and the table below lines up the three routes and the two plans.

04

When should you stay on Webflow, and when hand the site to a developer?

Stay on Webflow if someone in your business knows how to use it and enjoys it. A site designed by a good Webflow designer, published on your domain with a Basic or Premium plan, updated by a person who knows the project's classes and styles, has no reason to change. Stay too if you're a designer yourself, if animations and layout freedom are what you love about your job, or if your site lives at an agency that looks after it for you. This page doesn't try to convince people for whom Webflow is the right tool, it's for those who opened it and closed it again.

Move to a site coded for you when Webflow has become a weight. You bought a template and every change takes you an evening. Your designer left, the agency changed priorities, and nobody knows how to touch the site any more. Your site still lives on a webflow.io address with the badge because the paid plan has been waiting for a decision for months. Or your business needs pages per town and per service that you never find the time to add. Essential at €39 a month replaces the hosting, the workspace, the template and your hours, and Visibility at €79 a month adds pages and articles written on verified keywords every month.

The migration starts from what Webflow leaves you. If you have the Core workspace, I use the HTML and CSS export as a reference and I collect by hand the content managed in the CMS, which the export doesn't contain. Otherwise I read the live site and take the texts and images from it. I then rebuild each page with a structure designed for your customers, you review a complete first version, we adjust, then we go live after your approval, less than 48 hours after the order depending on your pace. Your Webflow site stays online until then. For the domain, I change where it points or I transfer it, and it stays in your name.

06 The price

Why this price does not lower the quality

The price comes from how the site is built and maintained, not from a sacrifice on the design or the code.

01

A site designed and coded, not a template

No purchased theme, no page builder. The layout, the copy and the code are written for your business, after research on what your competitors do and on what your customers type into Google. Two clients never receive the same site.

02

Performance and security are measured

Before going live, every site passes a check on speed, accessibility and technical SEO, and it does not ship until the score is where it should be. A fast, clean site costs less to host and maintain, and that saving is in the price.

03

Automation pays the difference

Hosting, backups, monitoring and the monthly report are automated, and I have spent sixteen years building this kind of tooling. Human time goes to the design, the copy and your change requests, not to the repetitive tasks others bill you for every month.

04

No financing, no hidden clause

You pay €1 or €1 at the order, then a monthly plan for twelve months, with no credit company and no lease contract. The first year total sits at the top of the quote, and the domain and the code stay yours, with an export of the site within 15 days on request.

07

What questions come up about a Webflow alternative?

Which Webflow alternative should a small business without a designer choose?

If you want to keep building by yourself, Wix or Squarespace ask for far less learning than Webflow, and I compare them on this page. If you'd rather have a developer design, code, host and update your site, my Essential plan at €39 a month after €1 at the order does exactly that, with the code and the domain in your name from day one.

Which domain name does a free Webflow site publish on?

The Starter plan publishes on a webflow.io address, according to the Webflow pricing page. Starter is free and lets you build and publish on a Webflow subdomain, and publishing on your own domain name is listed as available with a paid site plan, Basic at $15 a month or Premium at $25 a month billed yearly. The Webflow badge also goes away with a paid plan.

How much does a Webflow alternative coded by a developer cost a month?

Essential costs €1 at the order then €39 a month excluding tax, €469 for the first year, and includes the site, hosting, backups, security, updates and your changes within 48 working hours. Visibility costs €1 at the order then €79 a month, €949 for the first year, and adds pages and articles every month. A shop or a client area gets a separate quote.

What does the code export of a Webflow site contain?

According to the Webflow pricing page, code export provides clean, semantic HTML and CSS files for your dev team, and content managed in the CMS, meaning collection pages and items, can't be exported. That export is listed in the Core workspace at $19 a month billed yearly, not in the free workspace. You then need a developer to host those files and keep them alive elsewhere.

How long does moving from Webflow to a site coded for me take?

Usually less than 48 hours between the order and going live, depending on how fast you review the complete first version. Your Webflow site stays online during the whole build, the domain switches last, once every page is approved, and you then cancel the Webflow plans you no longer need.

What happens to my site if I stop the plan after a year?

You leave with the whole site, code included. The plan runs twelve months minimum, then can be cancelled any month with one month's notice. The code has belonged to you since day one, with no plan to pay for exporting it, and the domain is in your name. I hand you the full export within fifteen days, free of charge, and you host it wherever you want or give it to another developer.

08 Compare before you sign

A site coded for you, at the price of a kit site

  • 01 The code and the domain name are yours from day one, with an export of the site within 15 days
  • 02 No WordPress and no page builder, every page is designed and written for your business
  • 03 Speed, accessibility and technical SEO are measured before the site goes live

Among the French offers under 100 € a month we reviewed in August 2026, none displayed these three commitments together.
