All seven districts of Brest are within my area, the centre, Bellevue, Europe, Lambézellec, Quatre-Moulins with Recouvrance, Saint-Marc and Saint-Pierre, and with those in the neighbouring towns, Guipavas, Plougastel-Daoulas, Gouesnou, Guilers, Bohars and Plouzané. Each district has its own market and trading life, the Saint-Martin halles from Tuesday to Saturday, the Saint-Marc market on Tuesday at place Simon, Lambézellec on Friday at place des FFI, Saint-Pierre on Wednesday at place Quilbignon, Recouvrance on Saturday, and a local site names these places the way people search for them.
Across the Brest metropolitan area, construction counted 820 businesses in Brest at the end of 2024 according to INSEE, roofers, plumbers, electricians and joiners who live on referrals and Google searches. Then there are the shopkeepers of rue de Siam and rue Jean-Jaurès, the crêperies and restaurants of the centre and the port, the companies of the commercial port and the ship repair yards in Saint-Marc, and the service providers working for the Moulin Blanc marina. Each family of trades has its own customer questions, and therefore its own pages.
Take a roofer based in Guipavas who works across the whole metropolitan area. His site would have a home page saying what he does and where, a roof repair and leak detection page with honest response times, a slate roofing page with photos of his own jobs, a gutters and zinc work page, one page for each town he works in most, Brest, Guipavas, Gouesnou and Plouzané, a reviews page pulling in his Google listing, and a contact page with a form that accepts photos. Each page targets a real search, 'couvreur Guipavas' or 'fuite toiture Brest', and that's what moves it up the results.
A crêperie in Recouvrance won't have the same pages as a roofer, and the method still works for it, as it does for, a hair salon in Bellevue, an osteopath in Plougastel-Daoulas or a boat cleaning company at Moulin Blanc, with pages that follow what customers ask. What I put forward for a manual trade is described on the website for tradespeople page. And if your customers also come from the other end of Brittany, I cover website creation in Rennes with the same formula and the same plan, and a single site can then serve both cities.
